Ghost Jam 2009

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 2, 2009, 9:29 AM

K, so, I went ghost hunting this past Halloween weekend, correct? Everyone heard about that?

It was Halloween, and a full moon now doubt.

Word of caution.

If you're gonna try to ghost hunt on Halloween, be ready to run.

Me (a seasoned paranormal investigator... a freaking 4'11 wuss of a girl who hates crossing the highway even...even though I grew up in Houston. Stupid county ass town turning me into a wuss) , My father (who was a street fighter his whole life, a football player growing up, was in the navy, and even owned a bar and doubled as the bouncer), and Logan (my Ex Iraq army infantry cousin) went to 5 cemeteries on Halloween night. I was the only one that was left almost completely unphased by the whole ordeal.

The first cemetery was Old North Church. I've talked about this one before to certain individuals, but for those who haven't heard the story, there is a friendly little girl ghost in the cemetery known as Annie. Every single time I've gone, she has been the first voice on my recordings, and has even been recorded as protecting us from stuff as we walked around.

She didn't say a word. No one did.

In any of the cemeteries.

Instead, any place we got a recording, we either got inhuman growls, weird noises following us, or other noises no human spirit would make.

Out of all 5 cemeteries, we got chased out of all 5.

While in Old North Church, Logan decided to go up to a mausoleum, where on previous trips in previous recordings, we were told "Don't come in" "Get away" or "Stay out".

Logan had spent the entire trip thus far as a playful skeptic. Taunting the ghosts with odd questions and all in all thinking it was total bullshit.

The second he went to peer into the mausoleum, he FREAKED out. Backed away, going "Hell no. Oh fuck this! We aren't supposed to be here. We aren't supposed to be here! Lets go. NOW. We gotta get out of here."

Both me and dad saw the -genuine- fear on his face.

As we went to leave, we felt like something was following us, and it just served to fuel Logan's fear more.

The second cemetery we went to was Fairview cemetery, where, on previous outings, I encountered something touching me in the middle of my back, and rocks being thrown from a clear, no tree lined sky. As soon as we pulled up and saw the church, my dad, who was the only one paying attention at first, stopped the car, stared, and said "I don't like this place."

As soon as me and Logan looked up, it was... almost as if the very church looked like it was telling us, VIOLENTLY, to... for lack of more home driving words...

"GET THE -FUCK- OUT!"

Dad whirled the car around, and PEELED out of the driveway to get away.

Dad is more of a skeptic then Logan.

This scared the shit out of him.

The next two cemeteries followed suit with the last, which I've never been to, Nate cemetery, and Salem cemetery. One look, and we knew not to go in.

The last cemetery we went to was Oak Grove cemetery. A lot of my family is buried there, and I've never recorded -any- activity there. The only thing I've ever gotten was a creeped out feeling during the day.

Dad refused to get out of the car for this one, and waited at the gate. Me and Logan went in, of course, and walked down the main path just recording. After we got just about to the end of the path, both of us got a -really- creepy feeling, and turned tail and ran, as -something- chased us out. This was followed on the recording with a weird sort of... music, but not music... kinda noise. That followed us out. I'll post the recording up once I pull it off my recorder.

Sadly, the Old North Church recordings were ruined by a microphone I had tried out in an attempt to gain a higher level of sensitivity. I -DO- have a tape recording of Old North Church, that I set on a gravestone and let just sit there as we went around the cemetery. On that recording, we got strange whistling. I'll see what I can do about uploading that one. It's gonna be a bit more difficult then the others.

Now I know why it's called All Hallows Eve. The spirits really are stronger then on normal days, or so it felt like. Most of the feelings we got were evil and disturbing. This is highly unusual for my hunts.

Hopefully next time around wont be quite so terrifying. Logan and Dad still wont go near the nearby cemetaries.

Edit: Best part of all of this? Everyone involved said it was the most fun they've had on Halloween since the days of trick or treating xD

Ghost Hunter Shows

Journal Entry: Fri Oct 30, 2009, 9:12 AM

Ghost shows. Everyone has seen them at least once.

I am an avid paranormal investigator, and have dedicated countless hours to my own research on the subject, as well as countless field work hours. I am by no means a skeptic.

But these shows rub me the wrong way. I don't agree with their methods, nor do I really believe their findings. And my reasonings are simple.

For one, no matter what show you watch, no matter what is going on, you never ever EVER see what they claimed to have happened on camera. Like, a door slamming shut. They never seem to catch it.

Two, Every single time something 'happens', they all react the exact same way. EXTREME OVER DRAMATIC reactions to something simple and, quite honestly, not that scary. Like a glass moving two millimeters. I have been touched before. In the middle of my back. A soft shove. And I didn't freak out the same way these FULL GROWN MEN did. And I'm a freaking 4'11 GIRL. Their reactions are so over dramatized that it's obvious they are acting. Any theater student would be able to catch this over dramatization.

Three. The EVP and evidence they DO catch is easily debunked as fake just by first glance half the time. Some even claim to hear the voices as they happen, and unless they are a median or something similar, or have a device that amplified sound around them, this should be close to impossible. Yet they claim to hear EVERY EVP period. Nomatter what. Laughs. Get outs. Everything. This just isnt possible. The range of sound an EVP is caught at falls WAY below the physical capabilities of the human hearing. Yes, there are exceptions. But these people take that exception and make it happen every time. Or claim it does.

Four, half of their show is easily detected as scripted. We're talking about Hollywood here people. We've seen Hollywood make things look so real that we doubt its falsity.

Now, I have no doubts that some of the things these people have experienced is real. I've had my own unbelievable tales and encounters, so I've got no standing to claim everything they have encountered is false. But I do believe that a lot of it is overly dramatized to be something more then what they really encountered. Some of these shows have more credibility then others.

My advice to anyone looking to start in on the paranormal scene... Take everything you see on tv on these shows with a grain of salt. Meaning don't believe everything you see. Go out on your OWN expeditions.

No single show, person, device, or method is EVER going to prove to the world that ghosts, spirits, demons, and the paranormal are real. That goal was fabricated by these shows, and it's not what the whole experience is about. These investigations are for your OWN questions and seeking of answers.

Some people argue that these people are there to rid houses of spirits and help homeowners sleep easier. This is a load of crap. In no way, shape, or form, is any living being ever going to have an effect big enough to push something as powerful as someone's lingering tormented SOUL to the other side. This is putting entirely too much faith into humans in general. We just do not possess the means of accomplishing this. We have means of urging them, but if you look at any ';possession' story you hear, they all have one key element. The use of a stronger entity then one's own self as an anchor to help shove the spirit out. If any of those stories have any validity, which is one area of the paranormal I tend to highly doubt, then that should say something about humans and their powers over something like a spirit.

Take the time and go out to your own local cemetery with a recorder. Walk around and record for an hour. At night. Review your tapes. See what you get. Something as simple as that is more then enough to gather evidence to come up with your own assumptions.

Get out there and experiment! That's the fun of it! Just take the proper safty procautions: Don't taunt any spirit (You don't know if it's spirit or demon), Don't do anything to disrespect a spirit (graffiti on gravestones, touching gravestones, walking over graves carelessly, etc. etc.), and never go alone.

Above all, have fun. And be prepared to deal with whatever you stir up should it decide it likes you LOL ~<3
